Contract, temp-to-hire and permanent staffing.
Add capacity without adding permanent headcount — across IT, engineering, manufacturing and BFSI. We carry the payroll and the statutory compliance, anywhere in India.
What is contract staffing?
Contract staffing engages workers for a defined period or project, on the staffing provider’s payroll rather than the client’s.
The provider owns employment, payroll and statutory compliance — PF, ESI, professional tax, gratuity where applicable and Contract Labour Act obligations — while the worker performs under the client’s day-to-day direction. The effect is capacity without permanent headcount, and without the employer carrying the compliance exposure that Indian contract labour law creates.
Contract vs temp-to-hire vs permanent.
Four ways to add people, and the situation each is actually built for.
| Contract | Temp-to-hire | Permanent | Project / volume | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Who employs the worker | SForce | SForce, then you | You | SForce |
| Typical duration | 3–24 months | 3–6 months, then converted | Open-ended | Defined by the project |
| Statutory compliance | Ours | Ours until conversion | Yours | Ours |
| Headcount impact | None | None until conversion | Permanent | None |
| Best for | Defined-period or fluctuating need | Assessing fit before committing | Core, long-term roles | Ramps, seasonal peaks, plant starts |
| Typical mobilisation | 1–2 weeks | 1–2 weeks | 48–72h shortlist | From 48 hours, then scaled |
If you are unsure which fits, tell us the problem rather than the model — we will say honestly which one we would use, including when the answer is a permanent hire rather than staffing.
Staffing by sector, not by keyword.
Domain depth is one of our four values — each desk screens on real capability, not CV keyword matching.
Technology contract staffing that screens properly.
Developers, QA and automation engineers, data and cloud specialists, infrastructure and support staff — supplied on contract, temp-to-hire or permanent terms for product companies, IT services firms, GCCs and financial institutions.
IT staffing fails most often at screening. Technology skills move quickly and CV keywords are a poor proxy for capability, so our technology desk validates against the actual stack and the actual problem rather than matching words. Where a client needs technology contract staff for a regulated environment — banks, NBFCs, insurers and fintechs — we apply the same verification depth our BFSI practice uses.
Plant staffing, from operator to plant head.
Contract and temp-to-hire staffing for automotive, engineering, chemicals and general manufacturing — including full plant ramps.
Shop floor
Operators, CNC and VMC technicians, fitters, welders and helpers — supplied at volume with compliance handled.
Technical & supervisory
Maintenance, quality, production supervisors and process engineers on contract or temp-to-hire terms.
Plant ramps
New plant starts and seasonal peaks staffed end to end, across multiple sites under one SLA.
Compliance is the deliverable.
In India, contract staffing arrangements fail on compliance far more often than on sourcing.
Workforce planning.
What is workforce planning?
Workforce planning is deciding in advance what mix of permanent, contract and outsourced capacity your plan actually needs — instead of reacting to vacancies as they appear.
In practice it means mapping demand against attrition rates, seasonality and project pipelines so that hiring is scheduled rather than urgent. Most staffing cost is created by surprise: emergency backfills, premium rates and rushed screening. Clients who plan even one quarter ahead consistently pay less and hire better. Where hiring is continuous rather than periodic, an embedded RPO team is usually the better answer than repeat staffing requisitions.
Staffing, answered plainly.
What is contract staffing?
Contract staffing is an arrangement where workers are engaged for a defined period or project and sit on the staffing provider's payroll rather than the client's. The provider owns employment, payroll and statutory compliance — PF, ESI, professional tax, gratuity where applicable and Contract Labour Act obligations — while the worker performs under the client's day-to-day direction. It lets an employer add capacity without expanding permanent headcount.
What is the difference between contract staffing and temp-to-hire?
Contract staffing engages someone for a fixed period with no expectation of permanent employment. Temp-to-hire runs the same way initially but with an agreed conversion point — the client can absorb the worker onto their own payroll after a trial period. Temp-to-hire is used where the employer wants to assess fit before committing; straight contract staffing is used where the need itself is temporary.
Does SForce staff technology roles on contract?
Yes. Developers, QA engineers, data and cloud specialists, support and infrastructure staff are all available on contract, temp-to-hire or permanent terms, with SForce acting as employer of record on contract engagements. For the full technology picture, including permanent and embedded hiring, see our IT recruitment page.
Do you provide engineering and manufacturing staffing?
Yes — operators, technicians, maintenance and production supervisors, quality engineers and plant leadership, on contract, temp-to-hire and permanent terms. This includes high-volume plant ramps across automotive, engineering, chemicals and general manufacturing, delivered with full statutory compliance.
Who handles statutory compliance for contract staff?
We do. On contract staffing engagements SForce is the employer of record, which means PF, ESI, professional tax, minimum wages, Contract Labour Act registration and returns, and gratuity where applicable sit with us. Clients receive compliance documentation with each invoice cycle — in India this is where staffing arrangements most often go wrong, so we treat it as a deliverable rather than an assumption.
How quickly can you mobilise a staffing ramp?
For volume operator, technician and support roles we typically mobilise within 48 hours and scale from there. Specialist technology and engineering contract roles usually take longer because the screening is genuinely technical — we would rather tell you a realistic date than a comfortable one.
Can you staff multiple locations at once?
Yes. Multi-site and multi-state staffing runs under a single SLA through one named account director, anywhere in India. Our office is in Surat, but delivery is not limited by where we sit.
What is workforce planning?
Workforce planning is deciding, ahead of time, what mix of permanent, contract and outsourced capacity a business needs to meet its plan — rather than reacting to vacancies as they appear. In practice it means mapping demand against attrition, seasonality and project pipelines so hiring is scheduled instead of urgent.
Also consider RPO when hiring is continuous, direct placement for permanent core roles, and client outcomes for how these run in practice.
Need capacity, not headcount?
Tell us the problem — we’ll tell you honestly which model fits, even if it isn’t staffing.
